What happened to #0079?
Contrary to popular belief, I can, in fact, count. I’ve put some opals, including 0079, into pendant settings.
First however, I decided to take one of my earlier opals and make a pendant out of it.
#0026 went into a pendant. ![]()
Pendant P0002
This opal is 8mm x 6mm x 1.5mm and weighs .60c. It is set in a Sterling Silver pendant setting and includes the sterling silver chain seen in the picture. Color wise this pendant is a steal at $40. Green, blue, red, and orange colors jump out of this opal. Color is visible from most angles, and is moderately bright. Why such a low price? The thickness of the opal is a maximum of 1.5mm. There are areas of the opal that, due to the base material, are only about 1mm.

Now we get to #0079. Pendant P0003
8mm x 6mm x 2.5mm. Weight .95c. This Coober Pedy opal is set in a gold filled sterling setting (translation: looks like gold, but isn’t, and is resistant to flaking). The gold filled chain is included. This crystal opal has predominantly green color, but due to the opals transparent nature lighting plays a big part in what color shows and how the opal looks. Add to that the background color making a difference. When the opal is worn as a pendant, your skin tone will affect how it looks, but overall it has a really neat flash to it with hints of green. $50 + shipping.
