It’s all about Arrows
June 21st, 2007 by neuralTime for a shift in focus. I’ll still post the occasional thoughts and rants about Second Life and Linden Lab, but I’m also going to log my achievements in relation to playing Dance Dance Revolution.
Why? Because I’m to lazy to start a new blog, and I have a number of friends in-world who want to know about it.
I’ve had a “diaper dance pad”* for a year or so now, and have played occasionally, but 2 weeks ago I decided it was time to start a daily routine for the purpose of exercise.
So with the exception of one day last week, I’ve done about an hour to 2 hours or so every day.
Don’t know what Dance Dance Revolution (a.k.a. DDR) is? Click HERE for the Wikipedia information about the game.
I may go as far as posting videos on YouTube.com when it comes time to prove I’ve accomplished certain scores (but that will be a loooong time from now).
I have set a simple goal for myself. Get an A grade on all songs on the game I have (DDR Extreme), excluding the “challenge” songs.
This seemed atainable, until I unlocked the song Legend of Max. So far my best on that is an “E” (the lowest score you can get).
Right now though Legend of Max and Drop Out are the only two songs left that I don’t have at least an A grade on at the beginner level (22 of which are AA’s).
So, I’ve been moving up into the Light, as well as a few, very few, Standard level attempts.
And today was a good day.
AA on 321Stars (beginner)
A on “A” (light)
AA on B4U (beginner)
AA on Bad Routine (beginner)
B on Can’t Stop Falling in Love (light)
B on Drop the Bomb (light)
AA on Firefly (light) <--- this was the first time at this difficulty level too. ![]()
A on I'm for real (light)
A on Keep On Moving (light)
AA on Higher (beginner)
AA on Kick the Can (Light)
A on La Senorita (light)
AA on Love Love Sugar (beginner)
and....
My proudest moment thus far in my DDR Journey
Full Combo A on Maximizer (beginner)
Maximizer is the best track on the whole game in my opinion, but I'm also a HH junkie.
*Diaper Dance Pad - This is the name I’ve given to the cheap-o pads that people generally start out with, that come in the box with the game (which is how I got mine).
Mine in particular is startting to piss me off. As I get more and more into the Light and Standard levels, mine is starting to drift across the carpet severely. In one case, I missed Full Barring the song Jet World on Light, and I could swear that it’s not sensing correctly sometimes. Admittedly, that is one that I tend to mash sometimes.
No matter, I will attempt to keep using it until I can buy a Cobalt Flux.
Updates after this probably won’t be as lengthy.
With the exception of Drop Out, Legend of Max, and the “Challenge only” songs, if the song is not on the list above I have an A on the beginner level.
I’ll try to spice up the posts with pictures when I can. Usually I’m not to interested in taking snapshots with my camera when I’m sweating like mad.
For now, here’s a YouTube.com link to a video of someone that is a diety compared to my skill level at DDR (using a Cobalt Flux pad):
